Farting Vampire Cows and More (Podcast 23)

So it's a good thing we got a couple of these done before going on vacation, and this one picks up exactly where the last one left off, with a movie nerdy, nerdy movie discussion.

The music was Love Tractor, from Themes from Venus, "Satan" (appropriately enough) for the opener and "Crash" for the closer. We love that album, and it seems to be out of print, which sucks. You can, however, buy it on cassette from AthensMusic.net.

Things mentioned that are not movies:

JessicaHarper.com. Warning. Music. Kind of awesome music, though.

Paul Williams. Warning. Pretty horrible website. But please do click on the "Personal Experiences" link in the left frame. E.g.

Things mentioned that are movies:

Dario Argento movies: Deep Red/Profondo Rosso, Suspiria, Inferno, Two Evil Eyes, Four Flies on Gray Velvet (which we think we haven't seen), Cat o Nine Tails, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage

De Palma movies: Phantom of the Paradise, Carrie

David Cronenberg movies: The Brood, Scanners, Rabid (and also Existenz, A History of Violence, and Spider, which are mentioned but not scary)

Roman Polanski movies: Repulsion, Rosemary's Baby, The Tenant, The Fearless Vampire Killers

Other movies: Shock Treatment, Lady in White, Phantasm, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), The Omen (1976), Jeepers Creepers, Who Slew Auntie Roo?, the Roger Corman Poe pictures, Twice Told Tales, and Dark Shadows (the TV show).

Also, which one of these is Lucas Haas and which is Jared?

You Just Said Fiftiest (Podcast 22)

Sorry for the delay, all. What did we talk about? Here is what we talked about in this podcast, of which part II will be coming very shortly (as it's already recorded).

Music was, at the opening, "Horror" by Boom Box 2000, which can be purchased here. The photo at that link is a lie! Music at the closing was The Low Lows, "Dear Flies, Love Spider." Their site will play music at you. Eek.

This is the relatively awful photograph that was discussed. Still a little awesome. Also, Rocky IV, not V. I think that's better.

Here is the link to the excerpted article on frog gigging.

It looks like no one's made a reality TV dentistry show yet.

Movies mentioned in this first part, and not linked, because, seriously, how much time do you think we have on our hands, are: Masters of Horror ("Homecoming"),* Do You Like Hitchcock? (the most recent Dario Argento movie), The Thing (Carpenter one), The Eye, Don't Look Now, Wolf Creek, Sybil, The Birds, Psycho, The Shining, Cujo, Christine, The Kingdom, The Exorcist, The Ring, Ringu, The Others, The Innocents, The Haunting (the old one, though we have seen the fur vesty new one too), The Haunting of Hill House (not by name), Haunted (the one with fake naked Beckinsale) (and possibly some more movies with similar titles), Dead of Night, Dead of Winter, Deep Red/Profondo Rosso, Tenebre/Unsane, and Phenomena/Creepers.

*not actually a movie

What Rhymes with Michigan (Podcast 21)

This is what one has to do after a crushing college football loss: stay up late and podcast to take one's mind off it. It's called distracting yourself.

Music on this one was by Ham1, who have an official website, where you can download their album for free (but give them money!), and a MySpace. Songs were "Wrong Way Marshall" and "Pop Song for a Funeral."

I guess we didn't talk about much this time that was super linkable.

This is the Mary Phagan movie we were unable to watch.

Here's Runaways, vol. 1.

If there's anything else we should link, let us know.
