Field trip, part 2 (podcast 25)

Yeah yeah. Continued.

This time, we hit some Jack Logan highlights for the music, mostly because one's real bluesy (the opener, "Lazy Girl Blues") and one's about bbq (the closer, "New Used Car and a Playe of Bar-B-Que"). Both are off Bulk. If I had known he's originally from southern Illinois, I might've told Jared to bump him. Not really. He's nice and a good songwriter.

You can go on a virtual tour of Rowan Oak here.

Here is some video of the Peabody Ducks (not taken by us) and some talking to the assistant duck master. Yes, the same one.

According to the most recent Flagpole Guide to Athens, I'm guessing there are about 55 bars that are relatively pure bars (as in not attached to restaurants) in Athens and the surrounding area. Maybe a local can tell us how many Oxford, MS, has.

Silky O'Sullivan's on Beale Street has its own website. Do not miss the photo album.

The web home of Sun Studio. (It ain't loading right now.)

Field trip, part 1 (Podcast 24)

1 of 3 that cover our recent vacationy thing.

This one is mostly about Graceland and a little bit about Tunica, Mississippi, and its creepy casinos.

Music at the beginning was Geoff Reacher's "Look Me in the Eye," off his You Like My Song EP. Music at the end of was Titans of Filth doing "Trying to Get Away into the Night" off their Best Behavior EP (also their only one so far).

Some things that are mentioned include:

--A&R BBQ, which RoadFood.com also enjoyed

--Upstairs at Graceland (conspiracies!)

--The Grand Casino Tunica

Here are a few sample photos. The rest can be found in the big Fotki album.
